We were recently informed about a resource that we believe will be helpful to many individuals who read our blog. This resource is The Caregiver’s Guide to Financial Planning in the Shadows of Dementia. Planning is very important for all people but it is especially important when a person is experiencing a decline in memory and cognition and will soon be unable to make decisions for themselves. A free PDF download of the guide can be obtained HERE. Inside the guide you will find an overview of the stages of decline associated with dementia and actions for caregivers to take at each stage, symptoms of caregiver stress and advice to help caregivers manage their own well-being, and a comprehensive framework for financial planning created by researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology AgeLab.

We would like to thank Sheila A. White, RN, MA, CSA, CLTC, for introducing us to this valuable resource. Sheila is a Long Term Care Insurance Solutions Specialist. Her website can be accessed at www.sheilawhite.ltcfp.com.
