Those who served in the U.S. military may be eligible for health benefits through the Veterans Administration (VA). Generally for those who served after 1979, the VA requires at least 24 continuous months of service. However, there are a number of exceptions to the minimum duty requirements, including disability in the line of duty. Any person discharged under dishonorable conditions is not eligible for benefits. There are a number of categories that fulfill the requirements for enhanced eligibility. The full list and more details regarding eligibility for health benefits can be found at the following; http://www.va.gov/HEALTHBENEFITS/apply/veterans.asp.
