Brian Andrew Tully Discusses Life Care Planning In April Edition Of The Elderlaw Report

Melville, NY —Brian Andrew Tully, Founder/Partner, Tully Law, P.C., was interviewed in the April 2014 edition of The ElderLaw Report for an article entitled “Life Care Planning in an Elder Law Practice: How Does It Work?”

The article covered the aspects of the life care planning model, how it fits in the practice of elder law and what it entails. In the article, Mr. Tully says that the life care planning model benefits the client and their caregivers, because it focuses on their personal care needs, not just their legal needs. “[The life care planning model] helps the client and the caregivers as they have one entity assisting with the entire dynamic process,” Mr. Tully said.

Tully Law, P.C. has an elder care coordinator who works with life care planning clients by providing them with information, education, counsel, support, coordination, advocacy and intervention services. Mr. Tully meets with the elder care coordinator on a regular basis to review the client’s health concerns.

“I believe that elder law attorneys are trained to help with the legal and financial issues, but are rarely equipped to assist a family with the medical, social and family issues and that’s where the elder care coordinator spends her day,” he said.

Mr. Tully said the life care planning model not only benefits his clients but the firm as well. “Not only has the business model allowed us to help clients in more ways, but the professional satisfaction of truly helping families as they travel down the elder care continuum is immeasurable.”

In 2004, he founded the ElderCare Resource Center, Inc., whose mission is to be the community resource for support, answers and expertise in regard to advance planning and informed decision making about present and future long-term healthcare. The Suffolk Nassau Regional Business Partnership voted the ElderCare Resource Center as Educational Business of the Year in 2005.
